Managing Your Library Books - Renew, Reserve, Review

Click on the link below to login to Destiny, the library catalog and automation system.  In the upper right hand corner, click on the login button.  Use the same login credentials you use for a school computer.  You will then be able to see what you've got checked out, renew books from home, and even place books on hold!  By changing the search window to search all LISD libraries, you can find titles at other campuses.  If there's one you would like to check out from another campus, come by the CPHS library to fill out an ILL (inter-library loan) request, and we'll have the book sent to you!

To search the library catalog effectively:

Think of the broad aspect of your topic.

Example: "My topic is Muslim women in Turkey and their right to wear a veil." Look for books on WOMEN and (ISLAM or TURKEY or MUSLIM)

Find a few book titles that look promising. Write down the complete call #. Go to the shelves, find the books, and then

Browse. Look around for other books shelved near it.

Check the index and table of contents of each book you pick up. You may not have time to, or want to, read the entire book. However, there may be a great chapter on your topic or just a few pages.
